Great Danes are such gentle giants. I have admired this breed for as long as I can remember. I never thought that I would have not one, but two of these beautiful dogs to call my own.
I have learned so much since Reese and Stella became ours, and I want to share some of my favorite products with you. There is no denying that the bigger the dog, the bigger the mess and mine are no exception.
I feel as if I am chasing after two toddlers with amnesia. They have trouble remembering from day to day how to eat and drink without turning the kitchen floor into a slip n slide, how to go up and down the stairs, how to share and that we have a cat. The same cat that they see every day and then act like it’s the first time they’ve met.
To say that I clean ALOT is an understatement. I try to be ready for whatever they throw my way, but they are a handful with two completely different personalities. I can never run out of paper towels and have over-used my fair share of vacuums.
I’ve also learned that sometimes you have to overlook the drool and dog hair and enjoy how special the love of a dog truly is, even if they don’t have manners and help themselves to the litter box every chance they get.
Our girls love lounging in their beds. We have gone through several beds that did not hold up to Stella’s chewing. The one we have now, they both enjoy, and she wasn’t able to rip it apart on the first night.

Since replacing dog beds and buying them for multiple areas can get expensive, I also found some outdoor loveseat cushions on clearance. We keep two in the garage, so they have a place to lay when we are outside.

I found Neater Feeder when I was searching for elevated food and water bowls for larger dogs. It keeps the food on top and water drains below. Once the top piece is taken off, the bottom with the excess water can be dumped outside or in the sink.
Although Stella still drips, the amount of water that the Neater Feeder keeps from getting on the floor and walls is unbelievable. It comes with two stainless steel bowls and a set of non-skid rubber pads.
We needed the leg extensions since the girls are tall, but different versions are available for smaller dogs who need their bowls at a lower height. Stella cannot wait until it is warm enough to take a dip in her pool. I call it her pool because she pretty much lays down and takes it over.
Reese also enjoys the pool, but she’s happy just getting her feet wet. They outgrew the plastic baby pool we got for them when they were puppies, although we still use it to give them a bath. We tried a few other collapsible pools, but they were no match for their nails. This is the pool we have now, and it is durable, has a non-slip bottom, is foldable and portable. Stella occasionlly sits on the side of it and it still keeps its shape. It is available in two sizes and colors.
Reese sometimes gets an upset belly, but treats by Blue Dog Bakery are a healthy option that keep her belly happy when it’s time for a reward. They also have a nice crunch.

Cleaning our hardwood floors was always my least favorite chore. I struggled with too much cleaning solution, not enough cleaning solutions, streaks, and dog hair that was left-behind. I stumbled across The Tineco iFloor 3 Breeze Complete while I was on the hunt for Black Friday Deals.

These are the best rugs I have ever owned! Gorilla Grip rugs are durable, absorbant, stain and fade resistant. Their heavy duty slip resistant backing, does not budge!
I have scrubbed mine dozens of times to remove pet messes and they still look new. We have also taken them outside and rinsed them off with the hose for larger messes and even after being soaked, they dry quickly.

A Great Dane paw is not your average size paw. It is almost impossible to get all 8 of their paws clean before one runs passed me leaving a trail of muddy paw prints or pushes me over while I’m trying to wipe their paws. Usually I give up and follow the trail up the stairs that each need wiped down. I recently purchased the MudBuster Portable Dog Paw Washer and thought it would turn out to be one more lack luster product that didn’t work. I was wrong.

Both our Danes have sensitive skin, so during bath time we use Wahl 4-in-1 Calming Pet Shampoo with Lavender Chamomile . Stella carries around her “babies” and shows them to everyone who comes to visit.
